This example is of a purely CSS menu-based navigation system. And, because most of the internet uses Microsoft Internet Explorer, which doesn't support such advanced CSS, we've made sure it degrades as nicely as we could make it. That's why, if you're using IE, you see a list of links to the left, rather than a menu at the top.
There is absolutely no JavaScript on this page. Feel free to view the source if you don't believe us. All of the IE differences are due to IE's lack of support for selectors and the fact that, in CSS, more specific rules (e.g., the ones that use selectors) take precedence over less specific rules (e.g., the rules IE knows how to follow). It's a beautiful thing when standards-compliance and the lack thereof can mesh into a single space without conflict.
